Charles “Chuck” D. Schmidlin, 86, of Lambertville, MI, died Sunday, October 21, 2018, in Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born July 29, 1932, in Holland, Ohio, he was the son of Oscar and Nellie (Krieger) Schmidlin. A 1950 graduate of the former Burnham High School, in Sylvania, he then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Chuck married the love of his life, Cynthia “Jean” Schmidlin on April 30, 1960. He was a master plumber and pipefitter with the family business, Schmidlin Plumbing & Heating for over 45 years, retiring in 1993. Chuck was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, MI, PHCC of Northwest Ohio, Ohio State PHCC, Reynolds Corner Exchange Club, Toledo Lutheran Bowling League, V.F.W., 9656 and American Legion, 191, both in Lambertville, MI.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean; daughters, Vicki Flores and Lisa Duda; brothers, Walter (Cris) and Paul (Tracy) Schmidlin; sister, Mary Jo (Paul) Holmes; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Keith & James Schmidlin; brother, James Schmidlin; sister, Kathryn Williams and step-sister, Kathleen Vaclik.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 5790 West Temperance Rd., Ottawa Lake, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
